Anpetu Was’te – good morning in the Lakota language. This month’s Lakota word is Osni which means cold in our Lakota language. I chose this word because I cannot believe how severely cold it has been here on the Rosebud Indian Reservation. And, not only is it cold here but it has been cold everywhere. I hope you all have stayed warm and are in good health.
Last time I wrote you all we were scrambling here at SGU getting ready for the holiday season, well thank goodness that has come and gone and we are back in session (classes). However, we just celebrated our 48th Annual Founder’s Week Celebration and the month of January was extremely busy getting prepared for this event. This year was really special as we did a special honoring (Uonihan) for our President Dr. Lionel R. Bordeaux. President Bordeaux has been Sinte Gleska University’s President for 45 years. You can go to the youtube channel HERE and view his honoring as well as our forums, crowning of Miss Sinte, the Pow Wow and many other Founder’s week activities.
As always, a reminder that you can also check our SGU Foundation Giving Page http://www.sgufoundation.org/ and remember that we also have our own Facebook page and my blog.
See you next month and please remember to watch for Sinte Gleska Updates and News on our Website.
Wopila Tanka!
(A big thank you)
