Hihanni Was’te – good morning in my Lakota language. This month’s Lakota word is Canpa Sa Wi which means moon of red cherries – or July.
We are diligently working on the completion of the new SGU Student Union and still anticipating the completion date as mid-August. August is probably one of the busiest months for us if not the busiest. It will be wonderful asset to the University and for our students.
Our 45th Graduation Commencement is August 25, 2017 with approximately 50 graduates. We will begin the fall registration process the week of August 14, 2017 and the first day of classes begins on August 28, 2017. In conjunction with our busy schedule, our area K-12 schools begin on August 21, 2017 and it is the Rosebud Sioux Tribe’s 139th Annual Rosebud Fair Celebration. This celebration will begin on Wednesday, August 23rd and will end on August 27th. So not only are we as an Institution going to be busy, but so will our students, employees, tribe and visitors, yet the pure anticipation and excitement of everything is immense, but is always rewarding as well as great fun!
