Kathy Boyd’s Blog
Anpetu Was’te – good morning in the Lakota language. This month’s Lakota word is Ptanyetu means fall in our language. I chose this word because it is the falling of the leaves season.
I am very sorry not getting my monthly blog out to you all in October and now it is November. The last time I shared with you all, I told you about President Bordeaux’s honor he received in Canada. Well, in October, President Bordeaux was once again given an honor. Black Hills State University dedicated its newest residence hall on campus to Class of 1964 alum Lionel R. Bordeaux, a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe and President Bordeaux is one of the longest-serving college presidents in the United States. Again, we are so proud of President Bordeaux here at Sinte Gleska and I wanted to share this with you all as well. If you want to read about this honor or if you would like to see photos, please go to our SGU website. (sintegleska.edu) or click HERE to be taken to the photos.
Last time I wrote, that construction was nearly completed on our new Student Union building, well, we will be done this month for sure. Again, you can look and review photos on our SGU web page.
Classes also began for the fall semester and enrollment is steadily increasing. We just had a morale booster for our SGU employees yesterday, Halloween day. We did a luncheon and had a great turn out and it was so fun. Please check our pictures of some of our funny and scary employee participants.
I also wanted to say, that I will be getting back to you in December with some SGU news, but until then be sure and check out our website www.sgufoundation.org and also our SGU foundation Facebook page.
Wopila Tanka!
(A big thank you)
